Tangerine Dream Sunset over The Field

When I look out my back yard, I see this amazing view across the gulch and to a field on the other side. There is a Rumi quote I have loved for nearly 20 years:

Out beyond ideas of wrong doing and right doing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.

It is no coincidence that quantum physicists also refer to the field, and that students of consciousness often refer to the field of universal intelligence. One of my favorites science + spirituality books is The Field, by Lynne McTaggart. You can check it out here on Amazon; I love my Kindle version for reading and highlighting on the iPad!
The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe

I am launching my own quirky Rox version of NaBloPoMo – National Blog Posting Month. The goal is to write at least once a day. I am intending to meet that goal, however I reserve the right to post on any of my many blogs!

If you are interested in learning more about the Beachwalks philosophy, please join the email list here – signup in the sidebar. I am starting conference calls where we can all get together and chat, in real time! The first one is Saturday, November 3rd at 9 am HST. I will email the call-in details on Friday. Check your time zone here.

Beach Walk 752 – Random Lexi Dogg

I am out of town and left my intended footage back on my main hard drive so I found this remnant from last winter!

It’s got a mood to it I think, and it’s dedicated to dog lovers and long shadows everywhere. The sound is minimal – just the sweet romancing rhythms of gentle late afternoon waves. Co-mingled with Lexi’s steady breathing, and a reminder from my friend Lola Jones to “breathe for pleasure.” I hope we at Beach Walks can cast a shadow of grace on you today. Mahalo for your patience in our absence.

Hawaiian word:
hoʻoaka: to cast a shadow

Beach Walk 724 – Pau Hana

This episode was filmed last Friday – what a perfect way to start a week! My friend Eric got some new Hero cameras and mounted them on his canoe. You get a great range of perspectives, and of course Eric’s daughter Kaile, makes an appearance near the end. This is true Hawaiian lifestyle at its best. If you look hard, you’ll see Rox in the background too. You can check out Eric’s Pueo canoe here.

The music in this episode is from our friend Kaimoku, “Honolulu Shuffle.” You can purchase the album here.

Hawaiian Word:
Pau Hana: work is all done

Beach Walk 593 – Two Years of Love

We started Beach Walks exactly two years ago.

Amazingly, we went 402 days without missing a day! Now, we are enjoying our leisurely five days a week schedule. We barely made it today before sunset, but what a reward! It was a perfect day and we stayed for another hour to have pupus and a twilight swim.

Hawaiian Word:
Lua: two

Beach Walk 591 – Aborigine Apology

OK, so the world still has a lot of messes, but there are increasing signs of massive change for the better.

Today, I want to mark a few of those, starting with the very profound and symbolic apology issued by the Australian government last week, as its first order of business for the new session. Imagine over 100,000 aborigine children taken from their homes under force, placed in abusive group and foster “homes” and stripped of their family connections, their language, their customs. I hope this will never happen again anywhere. Listen to the Happy Guru podcast from Australia to learn more about the Stolen Generation; Duncan has a very inspiring podcast and very extensive notes about this topic.

Though this may seem far away from you, you can still lend your support. Watch today’s episode for more in this.

On another note, I voted tonight in the Hawaii caucuses. There was unprecedented voter turnout – four to ten times the average amount in various locations. People are getting off of their couches and taking a role in determining their/our future. I just love that.

Hawaiian Word:
Mihi: apologize
