Beach Walk 729R – Bill Explains How to Be Bionic

My Dad died yesterday. A year ago I filmed this episode with him – and with no more than a minute’s notice, he told us the secrets to his long and happy life. It has not been without struggles and considerable pain, but he knows where to keep his focus, and has surely been rewarded for it. You can learn more about him at www.williampbenton.com.

My Beach Walks episodes have been few and far between these past few months as Shane and I have chosen to spend more time with my family. I think you can see why in this episode, and I haven’t even touched on the strengths my mother possesses!

You can see the original post and the very many comments here.

Beach Walk 709 – Happy Birthday Lexi!

iPod | 2:52| To Embed or Email: click above

Our wonderfully thoughtful and generous Beach Walk friend and Guardian Angel on The Reef, Susan, created this Happy Birthday video for our Lexi. Lexi is 8 years old today and continues to be one of the bright lights of our lives. She is also single-handedly responsible for getting us away from our computers and to the B E A C H most days. We have to spell it or else she goes into a circling tizzy when she hears the word spoken.

Mahalo Nui Loa (Thank You with Much Love) Susan, who also has a dog names Lexie (spelled differently) for your loving support, kindness, and thoughtfulness over the years.

We love you and consider ourselves blessed to have you in our life.

Beach Walk 608 OTR – Pups of Palm Beach

My visit with my parents in Florida has had its share of stress; my main tonic has been walking to Starbucks many mornings with friends and enjoying all of the dogs.

On Saturday there is a Farmer’s Market, and even more dogs! Mahalo to Bob and Anna, David, Sam, Amber, and Barbara for their dog stories. And big wet kisses to all the dogs who give us so much love and joy: Teddy, Winston, Savannah, Bowser, Rica, Molly, Harry and all of you wonders whose names I don’t know!

Mahalo also to Glenn Jones for his perfect song, “Little Dog’s Day.”

Beach Walk 606 – Bill Explains How to Be Bionic

I went to the beach today for a swim here in Florida, where I am assisting my parents – my Dad had another cancer surgery earlier this week. (His medical history reads like a text book – he’s had it all.)

But no swimmers were allowed, due to several shark sightings. So I enlisted my dad Bill to share his secrets for living with cancer, and many more physical challenges, over the past 15 years. At 84, he has a very relevant message I think. I hope you’ll leave a comment and tell me what you think.

UPDATE: My father died on February 19, 2009. Two weeks beforehand, he wanted to have a party and invite all his friends. We held a very informal gathering, and showing this episode on “the big screen” on his living room wall – so all his friends could see it. It was one of the crowning achievements of this web series, IMO.

Beach Walk 560 – Negotiating with Friends

I think it is easy to confuse the meaning of “putting business first” or “putting friends first.”

It’s more subtle than that if you want the business and the friendship to grow as a result of the working collaboration.
