Beach Walk 678R – Use Data to Build Confidence

Please enjoy this summer replay!

Some people are confident naturally; here are some tips for the rest of us. My friend Chris Brogan recently recorded a podcast about it. (Link removed as the file is no longer available.) Today’s episode of Beach Walks (filmed on an amazing day!!) came from my decisions to “swim first” and do the show second. One of the ways I’ve learned to build confidence is to be able to resist my feelings, and use data to inform my decisions and actions. That pesky #2 personality is frequently there to play the emotion card, which can keep us thinking and feeling “one down.”

Beach Walk 659 – Taking Both Sides

Do you ever give someone a compliment about something newish, and they come back with something like, “Oh, I guess that means you thought the way it used to be sucked.” Or when I did the show on Get a Dog and a few men said, “Whoa, dogs are now better than men?” No dear people! I simply like to enjoy all sides, to appreciate change, without dredging up a comparison factor to the previous iteration. We are also deep into politics season in USA; lots of discussion about moving to or away from the center. Just remember, how you fight can affect things for a long time to come.

Hawaiian word:
ʻO kāua pū: you and I both

Beach Walk 627 – Making Metaphors & Bread

We seem to be having a combination of vog (volcanic ash and fog) lingering around and it creates a beautiful silvery feeling at the beach.

Meanwhile, Shane took me up on a request and made some homemade bread, that started a little messy but turned out ʻono-licious! Plus you get a peek or two at the teenage girls practicing in the outrigger canoe.

Hawaiian word:
ʻOno: delicious
Palaoa: bread

Beach Walk 608 OTR – Pups of Palm Beach

My visit with my parents in Florida has had its share of stress; my main tonic has been walking to Starbucks many mornings with friends and enjoying all of the dogs.

On Saturday there is a Farmer’s Market, and even more dogs! Mahalo to Bob and Anna, David, Sam, Amber, and Barbara for their dog stories. And big wet kisses to all the dogs who give us so much love and joy: Teddy, Winston, Savannah, Bowser, Rica, Molly, Harry and all of you wonders whose names I don’t know!

Mahalo also to Glenn Jones for his perfect song, “Little Dog’s Day.”

Beach Walk 598 – Come Join with Me

I cannot stop watching this episode!

It was shot by moi, on the little Sanyo Xacti, there are water drops on the lens, it is a little over-exposed and a lot shaky, and of course I wanted more shots. But there was magic on the beach with Lexi this day. Then I heard this beautiful song on Dave’s Lounge #106 and I had to put these ingredients together. Sometimes the energy is so much more than the technique – this is true for me, today.

This episode is dedicated to each of you loyal viewers, who so generously receive whatever we share, who shower us with love and affection, who even travel all the way from Canada (and soon from the UK I hope) and share some of your precious vacation time with us.

I don’t know how to thank the Shanghai Restoration Project featuring Di Johnston for this beautiful song. I already purchased two copies of the album on iTunes. I hope you will purchase their music to encourage more of this in our world. As for Dave, I have listened to his podcast from the first episode, and he stands in rare company to have been so focused from the start, and he only gets better.
