Beach Walk 119 OTR – Embrace the Boar

Beach Walks is on the road at Cranbrook Institute today, “embracing the boar.”

h3. About Today’s Show

So it occurred to me while embracing the wild boar sculpture at Cranbrook that it could represent embracing those who challenge us. Often times families are there to challenge us, to push us in unexpected ways to find out who we are. I talk mainly about one of my many favorite ideas, that we teach people how to treat us.

When younger, I thought people should already know. But I learned that sometimes they just don’t, or even if they do, sometimes they just won’t. So it is up to me to teach them – and I find that empowering even though it does take energy. At least it means I don’t have to wait around for them to figure it out on their own.

Cranbrook is a beautiful campus, with art and science and education co-mingled. Notable alumni include Daniel Ellsburg, Scott McNealy, Mary Fisher, and Selma Blair.
