Beach Walk 719 – Internet Improves Communication

“Internet Improves Communication” – or at least it does for some of the people some of the time. It can also intrude on other people’s conversations, it can be full of falsehoods. Nonetheless in this episode I am talking about the upside of the internet’s tools to connect us and add to our sense of community and ability to know more about each other. The “Pew Internet Family and Life Project”:http://www.pewinternet.org/PPF/c/6/topics.asp keeps finding that overall, in the aggregate, more people feel they have better communication with family members than before the internet. I know this to be very true in my family.

Hawaiian Word:
Launa ʻōlelo; _dialog, communication_

Beach Walk 633 – Reception or Deflection

Monday seems like a good time to discuss one of the ways energy gets moved around between/among people, since Monday’s tend to have a lot of “incomings” – messages, requests, complaints, etc.

I use a little phrase (when I remember!), to slow things down and help me regain my footings.

Please welcome and check out our show sponsor, Primo Water. Primo Water is a new, environmentally-friendly water bottled in a natural plastic made from plants, a renewable resource grown on American soil.

Beach Walk 616 – Be Here Now for Business

I find it just as easy and tempting to stay stuck in the past with business relationships as I do in personal ones.

But I was feeling satisfied with an email I wrote to a client this morning, and thought I would bring that even more into awareness, by talking about it here. On a side note, you can see from Shane’s beautiful pan at the end – the silvery volcanic ash-vog to the south and the clear beauty towards the north. What a switch from yesterday!

As I was working on these show notes, this post on social media etiquette came to my Inbox. Thanks Toby perfect timing!

Beach Walk 586 – Friendliness & Praise

W00t! The sun is out!

Praise be to the weather. Let’s face it: kind words and genuine praise just feel good. It is all too common when talented people take on a type of snobbery, as if they have earned some form of superiority. I much prefer to give my business to people who are competent and friendly, like the people I have recently discovered at J Salon. It is a good reminder to me as I myself can sometimes fall into the snob mode too. I talked about in Bitterness or Bliss.

Hoʻomaikaʻi: praise

Beach Walk 421 – Be Right or Get Results

Follow on from yesterday, and I attempt to distinguish between private feelings and outer actions.

They really have different purposes and therefore different opportunities for how we choose to express ourselves. The #2 will maintain all of those “you musts!” but the #1 can see through the heat and look at what is more effective. See episode #102 for more about the #1 and the #2.

Mahalo nui Kaimoku for our new song!
