Beach Walk 221 OTR – Tyler Lucky 13

Join me on a late night adventure with a group of 13-year olds, updating an old tradition among friends.

For those of you who are new here, I usually walk the beach with my dog Lexi in Hawai’i. But I am on the road traveling for my job, so you get to come along with me! I like to think of Beach Walks as much as an attitude as a place. A place where we explore the edges of the known world, and think differently.

In my youth, “tp’ing” a friend’s house was definitely kept secret from the parents. Nowadays, it’s a little different. My parents (over 80) have been covered twice in the past six months and no one has a clue as to who or why. But they’ve laughed about it each time.

In this show, Mom drove and set the rules: a limit on the number of rolls and it must be a friend you like. We don’t often to get see this in action, so hope you enjoy… And is there anyone who hasn’t been at the receiving end of a few rolls of toilet paper? If so, please LMK!

Celebrating my mom’s birthday! Wanna guess her age?

h3. About Today’s Show

I filmed most of this show last June when I was visiting my parents in Michigan. I’ve been saving it up for this special day. One of the biggest thrills in my life right now is how much my mom and dad are enjoying Beach Walks! I was the troubled kid, the one who wasn’t living up to others’ expectations, the one who did the wacky things. Now, my mom calls several times a week with (really good!) show tips and ideas. If you were ever a troubled teen who begged to go away to boarding school to get out of the house, you can imagine what a lovely turn of events this is!

Show highlights: Blanche’s hole in one; petting a cougar, fashionista highlights.

“Happy Birthday” is by Craymo and can be found on the Podsafe Music Network.

Beach Walk 128 – Homage to Age

Maybe it is up to the baby boomers to reinvent getting older as a totally cool thing!

h3. About Today’s Show

I have not always had the most self confidence. But I must say the older I get, the more comfortable I am living in my own skin, viewing life through my own eyes, all instead of worrying what others think or how I should perform.

I wonder if this feeling of deep-seated comfort could somehow be passed on, downloaded, or shared with younger people, and if so, how that might transform the world. I personally spent so much energy just managing my worries, many of which at this stage in life I see as utterly trivial!

Maybe the sheer force in numbers and rebelliousness of the baby boomers is transforming the idea that it is more fun to be young. In fact, I do seem to be aware of far more multi-generational friendships than ever before. Is that true for you? Do you find getting older “a good thing”?

Hauʻoli lā hānau to my friend Lee. July 1 is her birthday!
