Beach Walk 737 – Uber Shaman & His Pups

As I have said many times before, “you meet the coolest people on the beach in Hawaiʻi!” Today we met Chris SantaCroce, aka Uber Shaman. It was his birthday, and he was starting the day at the beach with his puppies. He is a renaissance man – doing a number of things with his talents, and in a beach walks kind of way, spreading cheer and consciousness and geekiness to those he meets! To him, I was “that lady who walks the beach?” Yes, whenever I can!

Beach Walk 712 – Happy Birthday Dad

I hope you’ll celebrate my Dad’s 85th birthday with us today. He truly merits the medal for survivor, in so many ways. I never knew what an optimist he was the past few years. As he now deals with five (yes 5) different kinds of cancer, that optimism really plays an apparent role. Let’s give a round of applause for Bill Benton and his many contributions to the “Beach Walks philosophy.” You can also watch an interview I did with him last spring in Episode 606.

Our wonderfully thoughtful and generous Beach Walk friend and Guardian Angel on The Reef, Susan, created this Happy Birthday video for our Lexi. Lexi is 8 years old today and continues to be one of the bright lights of our lives. She is also single-handedly responsible for getting us away from our computers and to the B E A C H most days. We have to spell it or else she goes into a circling tizzy when she hears the word spoken.

Mahalo Nui Loa (Thank You with Much Love) Susan, who also has a dog names Lexie (spelled differently) for your loving support, kindness, and thoughtfulness over the years.

We love you and consider ourselves blessed to have you in our life.

Beach Walk 599R – Homage to Age

I have not always had the most self confidence.

But I must say the older I get, the more comfortable I am living in my own skin, viewing life through my own eyes, all instead of worrying what others think or how I should perform.

I wonder if this feeling of deep-seated comfort could somehow be passed on, downloaded, or shared with younger people, and if so, how that might transform the world. I personally spent so much energy just managing my worries, many of which at this stage in life I see as utterly trivial!

Maybe the sheer force in numbers and rebelliousness of the baby boomers is transforming the idea that it is more fun to be young. In fact, I do seem to be aware of far more multi-generational friendships than ever before. Is that true for you? Do you find getting older “a good thing”?

P.S. Shane and Rox are traveling this week so please enjoy some of our Beach Walks Classic Episodes!

Beach Walk 572 – Happy and Three

You’ve seen her on Beach Walks before – she is a real charmer.

My birthday gift was a trip to the beach, and the sun came out in Kaile’s honor, just like the song says. Eric the dad was in Iraq when she was born; lucky me I got to be his stand-in at the birth. He just came home late last year from his second tour, and Shane and Lexi and I are so happy for that and for being friends with the “Funhogs.”

Mahalo to The Innocence Mission for creating such a perfect song to go along with today’s episode. Buy at iTunes Music Store
