Beach Walk 403 – Promises and Pressure

Promises are a feel good solution in the moment. But they can sure create pressure and disappointment on the way to being unfulfilled.

Of course, they can also ramp up the energy and help motivate me towards a short term goal. Nonetheless, since I am looking for ways to be happy and experience less pressure, I tend to avoid promises as much as possible! My urge to please and my pleasure in sharing often tempt me to make promises about this or that, but I’ve learned to keep my mouth shut when it comes to those two words, “I promise!”

Hawaiian words
Hoʻohiki: to promise

  1. Rox, you’re not going to believe me, but I actually had my own blog post on Promises in edit when I saw your show today. It goes to prove once again that Great Minds Think Alike! 🙂 This inspired me to finish it, so here it is.

  2. Your comment blog doesn’t understand HTML, does it?

  3. Ahhh… I love my beachwalks! Mahalo nui loa Rox!

There’s nothing worse (feeling) to make a promise you cannot keep. For some of us it’s the syndrome of trying to please, and or being unrealistic about over-extending our time (and sometimes, our abilities too).

Note: …the M4V file (iPod) link is broken; …/0704/beachwalk_403_070410.m4v (note the QT and WIN versions point to …403_070411…). Doesn’t download in iTunes either. Maybe just a typo, eh?

  4. Mahalo Jonnie. We’re fixing now.

Had some server outages this morning. Only the website was down for those of you that watch at the site.

Those of you subscribed via RSS and/or iTunes wouldn’t have noticed any problems. Another good reason to subscribe! 😉
