Beach Walk 293 – One Big Game

Playing actual games reminds me so much of life in general. Part luck, part strategy, and who can tell which is which?

We were playing Rummikub with friends over the weekend. It was the first time for Secret Cameraman and me. The chips were falling quite nicely for me, and it led me to think I was a very good player. The opposite was happening for SC, and it led him to think he was not a very good player.

How easily we delude ourselves (in both directions) when in fact life is at least as much luck and coincidence as it is intention.

I like intention. I think of it as my way of talking to my soul, to the divine out there and in here. But if I don’t get my way, it’s easy to let it go – or as the saying goes, let the chips fall where they may.

Hawaiian words
Mea pāʻani: No distinction was made between game, sport, and recreation
Honuhonu: games of strength
Konoki: card game

    Hey Roxy,

Some words of wisdom from the Dalai Lama…

“Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.”
“Share your knowledge. It is a way to achieve immortality.”

For me…these mean…that life has rules…and we must learn them…but if you always follow those rules…you will not grow. And sharing your knowledge build relationships and its those relationships that give our life meaning.

    Just a thought….Dave in Texas 🙂
