Beach Walk 70 – May Day, Lei Day

Today is Lei Day, with lots of lei wearing, lei making contests, and plenty of hula and mele.

Today’s show is from Kapi’iolani Park, just across the road from the beach in Waikiki. Enjoy some affection and aloha from me and the keiki as they dance!

Hawaiian words
Mele: music, chant
Keiki: children
Kupuna: grandparent, ancestor

  1. Wow!! Thanks again for another beautiful glimpse into the wonderful Hawaiian culture. I have great memories of the beautiful leis of Hawaii (I can still see them and smell them!)
